I am an assistant professor at Tilburg University, in the Tilburg center for Cognition and Communication (TiCC). I mainly teach students of communication and information science.

I will soon defend my PhD dissertation at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (date: 14 October 2019, title: Pragmatic factors in (automatic) image description). My research focuses on two questions:

  1. How can we characterize human and automatic image description behavior?
  2. How should we close the gap between the two? What are the major obstacles?

My PhD supervisors are Piek Vossen (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and Desmond Elliott (University of Edinburgh).
